Education Management Information System in Tamil Nadu:
For the first time in the country, an Education Management Information System (EMIS) has been implemented in Tamil Nadu and it was launched by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the State Secretariat teachers day 6th Sep 2012 (06.09.2012).
The Chief Minister of Tamilnadu launched a student data related website for pallikalvi department.

An official statement here said, the system comprises a common online portal, education content service, SMS-based attendance monitoring system and intra-departmental communication services system. “At the common website (www.tnschools.gov.in), details of primary, high, higher secondary schools will be provided.It would contain details of headmasters, teachers, non-teaching staff, apart from number of students studying in each school, pass percentage, exam details and other important information,” it said. In the first phase, details of schools in Tiruchendurai, Ayilapettai, Somarasampettai in Srirangam Constituency, from where the Chief Minister was elected to the State Assembly last year, have been included in the common website. Similarly, details of other government and government-aided schools in the state would be incorporated in it.
